never lose touch with the people who matter

Relationships fade when you lose track of how long it's been since you last reached out. Tempo™ is memorist's way of helping you stay intentional — you set how often you want to connect with someone, and memorist lets you know when you're falling behind. No guilt, just a gentle signal.

Create a new entry or open an existing one. Just write naturally — memorist recognizes names and suggests them as tappable chips below your text. Tap a chip to confirm it as a tag. You can also type # to tag someone explicitly.

If it's a new name, memorist will ask you to classify it as a Person, Place, or Thing before saving.

Tagging a person links them to that entry. Over time, this builds a timeline of every interaction you've noted with them.

Tap in the bottom nav and tap the Person filter at the top of the screen. This shows all the people you've tagged across your entries.

Tap a name to open their profile. You'll see a timeline of every entry where they appear, a recency banner showing how long it's been since your last interaction, and options for relationship type and significant dates.

On the person's profile, find the Tempo section and drag the slider to your preferred frequency. Options range from Weekly to Yearly, with stops at Biweekly, Monthly, Every 2 Months, Every 3 Months, and Every 6 Months. Slide it all the way to the left to turn Tempo off.

For example, you might set a weekly Tempo for a close friend you see often and a monthly Tempo for a family member in another city.

memorist tracks the time since your last entry that mentions each person. When you exceed the interval you set, that person's status changes to off-tempo.

Tap with the Person filter selected to see everyone at a glance — people who are off-tempo appear in a red section at the top, and those who are on-tempo appear in teal below.

Off-tempo is not a punishment — it's a signal. It means the interval you chose has passed without a mention, and you may want to reach out.

To reset someone's Tempo, create a new entry and tag them. It doesn't need to be long — even a line like "called Mom today, she's feeling better" is enough.

The Tempo clock resets from the date of your most recent entry mentioning that person.

What to know about Tempo

Tempo is private.
No one else sees your Tempo settings or status. It's a personal tool, not a shared one.
You can adjust or turn off a Tempo anytime.
If a frequency feels too aggressive or too relaxed, drag the slider to a new position. To stop tracking entirely, slide it all the way to Off.
Tempo works with your existing entries.
If you've already been tagging people, memorist calculates Tempo based on your existing history. You don't have to start from scratch.
Tempo isn't just for people.
You can set a Tempo on any tag — people, places, or things — to track how often you interact with anything that matters to you.
